Vintage Evening Dress

The dress that gets the maximum attention in terms of time, effort and money spent by women or men is of course the evening dress. No matter what the financial or social status be, which country or race it is, the evening dress hogs most of the limelight in the fashion industry. In matters of propriety various factors need to be considered. First and foremost being who is to don the evening dress?  Gender, age, time, event, weather, fashion, social status, traditions, dress codes and primarily the budget are all instrumental in deciding what’s appropriate as the evening wear.

Let’s consider the factors one by one – the individual in question if it’s a male the choices are limited.
For a formal evening wear the men’s dress code is an easy guide. For looking one’s best in an evening dress men need to follow certain dos and don’ts as per their body shape and size. Men with a short torso can appear to look taller by using shirts with vertical stripes and details and trousers that sit on the hips. Horizontal stripes and details on the top with pants sitting on waists then obviously suit a long torso. Avoid shoulder pads and double breasted styles for a heavy body.
If it’s a woman the choices in evening dress are infinite. Fortunately most women are blessed with intuition as to what is the appropriate evening dress, regardless of the fact that information and guidance too is available in plenty. Ranging from full length evening gowns to skirt dresses and even to mini skirts most women can pass off their gear as formal evening dress by slyly devising accessories to complete the ensemble. Pantsuits and two piece dresses worn in the correct style and trend although generally considered as daywear can be worn at night outs too. Latest trends indicate that a bikini over embellished will usurp the place of appropriate evening dress!!!
As for age, time and event men’s evening wear doesn’t offer much variation. Women’s evening dress offers an unlimited variety not only in shapes, sizes, colors, fabrics and designs but also for different ages – whether it’s a toddler, adolescent, teenager, a young bride or mother-to-be, women in their twenties, thirties, forties and so on. The plethora of choices in the women’s evening dress is only limited by weather, traditions, social status, budget and primarily I would say fashion. What clicks as the most outstanding evening dress at any given time dictates terms for the fashionista. The term too is feminine accentuating the fact that an evening dress is concluded as appropriate by women alone.
